How Is a SEER Rating Determined?
The calculations that make up a SEER rating can be relatively complicated, but it's easy to understand once you know that the higher the rating, the more energy-efficient your unit will be. SEER represents the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio and is designed to identify the performance efficiency of the air conditioner. The rating is determined by the cooling output through a standard season for where you live divided by the electrical energy input during that same season.
