New Jersey Air Conditioning Replacement
Purchasing the Wrong Sized Equipment for Your Home
According to the Department of Energy, a large percentage of homeowners that replace their air conditioning systems wind up with the wrong sized equipment. The results can be downright scary and can include higher utility bills, unhealthy mold, damaged equipment, and, most importantly, your family may be uncomfortable. We ensure that we will accurately size your equipment and design your system to cater to your home and family.
Choosing the Wrong Contractor
A recent survey revealed that 45% of homeowners feel uncomfortable when a contractor is in their home. Always check online reviews, BBB standings, and ask your friends and family for referrals. Make sure that your contractor is properly qualified to install your home's system. We will make sure that you are comfortable and well informed from the beginning of your project and for as long as you live in your home.
Making Price the Only Reason for Your Decision
Like many things in life, you cannot get something for nothing. Make sure that your contractor explains all of the equipment to you, your warranties, and reviews on equipment and service to ensure that you are making your decision based on both quality and price. If you find yourself looking only at cost, ask yourself what might be missing from that installation. Often times, systems are replaced earlier than their life expectancy due to improper sizing, shortcuts, poor workmanship, and faulty installation. We hire only the best and can ensure that you will receive exactly what you need for your home and it will be installed correctly.
Not Getting Everything in Writing
At Guaranteed Service, we stand behind all of our products and services 100%. We offer a lifetime warranty on new installations and have a no hassle and no questions asked policy that assures you are in good hands with us. What Does a SEER Rating on an Air Conditioner Mean?
Air conditioning units are some of the most important investments for your home. Air conditioners provide comfort to you and your family all year long, no matter the temperature. There are so many types and brands of air conditioners, oftentimes, it's difficult to fully understand which machines are best for your home, and which do not provide what you're looking for in a system. SEER ratings are easy to understand and will allow you to select the right air conditioner for your home.
How Is a SEER Rating Determined?
The calculations that make up a SEER rating can be relatively complicated, but it's easy to understand once you know that the higher the rating, the more energy-efficient your unit will be. SEER represents the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio and is designed to identify the performance efficiency of the air conditioner. The rating is determined by the cooling output through a standard season for where you live divided by the electrical energy input during that same season. That end number is the final rating, which provides you with a means of identifying which AC units are worth the cost and which ones you should avoid.
Pay Attention to Your AC's Efficiency
While many products are rated on how well they perform, there's more to an air conditioning unit than how well it cools your home. Your home may be comfortable at the right temperature at all times; however, the unit could be using way too much energy just to cool your home to the preferable temperature, which will be displayed through a high monthly energy bill. An AC unit that's highly efficient is one that cools your home to the preferred temperature while using as little energy as possible.
These ratings start from 8 and extend all the way up into the 30s, though higher-end central air conditioning units tend to have ratings of 21-25. If you also want to do what you can to keep the environment as clean and healthy as possible, a unit with a higher SEER rating has much less of an impact on the environment.
What Is a Good SEER Rating?
While an 8 is the lowest rating possible for an air conditioning unit, all units built after January 2006 must have a rating of 13, which is a pretty good base efficiency, allowing you to reap a certain amount of benefits at an affordable price.
When purchasing a new AC unit, you will want to know what will work best for you and your home. The best ratings are invariably the highest ones, particularly anything between 16 and 23, though the ratings extend to around 28 for ductless air conditioning units. While these machines are more expensive to install, the operating costs are far lower due to the increased energy efficiency.
The Importance of a SEER Rating When Replacing an AC Unit
Any AC unit with a SEER rating of higher than 16 is considered to be high efficiency. While some homeowners can get by with units that have ratings between 13 and 15, a higher rating offers a much wider array of benefits. With so many reasons to consider a high-efficiency unit, the most common is the fact that your utility bills will be lower because you're using significantly less energy.
High-efficiency air conditioning units have a better impact on the environment. Units with a rating of higher than 16 use much less energy to operate, reducing the number of emissions that are sent into the air. A lower amount of electricity being used means that fossil fuels will be burned at a lower rate.
Another major benefit of air conditioning units with higher ratings is that they work better in regard to keeping air quality high and humidity low. High-efficiency systems will remove much more of the humidity that remains in the air throughout your home, keeping you cool and comfortable all season long. This happens because systems with a higher efficiency cool your home at normal rates and lower pressures, keeping humidity from building up. On the other hand, units that are less efficient will cool your house more quickly without first going through the process of removing the humidity from the air.
We Make Sure to Discuss These Points Before You Replace Your AC System
Getting to Know You
Our consultants will get to know you first. They will explore how you live in your home and what current comfort issues you're experiencing to make sure that they suggest the proper equipment for you and your family.
Properly Measuring Your Home
Installing the right sized AC system is very important. By measuring each room with special attention to window placement and vents, we can address any problems with rooms that may not be comfortable for you.
Ductwork Design & Sizing
The ducts in your home carry the air to each room, and it is important to be sure that they are correctly sized and at the proper length to deliver the right amount of cooling. A thorough inspection is a crucial part of our system design and is always necessary before any air conditioner installation.
Load Calculation
A load calculation involves a special formula that we use to be sure the system we are suggesting is not too large or too small for your family's needs. It's a critical step that, if not done correctly, can result in a system that runs too often and wastes energy. It can also lead to a system that does not heat or cool your home properly due to being under or oversized.
